Gilead’s Racial Equity Community Impact Fund will support educational opportunities for young black men

100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston announced that they are one of 20 recipients of Gilead Sciences’ newly launched Racial Equity Community Impact Fund, which supports high-impact organizations working to tackle racial inequities affecting Black communities across the United States.

The organization was recognized for their signature mentorship program which focuses on the social, cultural, emotional, and unique needs of Houston area  youth, primarily African American males.

“We’re beyond grateful to Gilead Sciences for acknowledging our work through this dynamic grant,” says Adraon Greene, 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston president says. “These dollars will help us expand our mentoring services and programming to even more mentees in the Houston area.”

Currently, nearly 60 boys are in the mentoring program. The funds will help grow the program to atleast 200 mentees and help improve the chapter’s infrastructure to increase services.

Additionally, the grant will support signature programs such as 100 Jobs for 100 Mentees, Mentoring to Medicine, Black Vitamin and My Brother’s Keeper, a program designed to keep young black men out of the criminal justice pipeline.
